Obituary of Clyde Wilson Meadows Jr

Clyde W. Meadows, Jr, 61, passed away on January 17, 2024, at home in Tampa from a battle with pancreatic cancer.  He was the husband of Laura L. Meadows for 38 years.

Clyde was born in Ft Hood, Texas on June 4, 1962.  He was the son of Clyde W Meadows, Sr and Irene Meadows of Augusta, Ga. He graduated from high school at The Academy of Richmond County in 1980, earned his bachelor’s degrees from Covenant College and Augusta College and went on to complete his master’s degree in computer science from the University of South Florida in Tampa. He was a software engineer for 21 years in the Aerospace division of Honeywell, Clearwater, Fl. Upon retiring from Honeywell, he taught high school in Hillsborough County, Florida.

Clyde was a true adventurer and modern explorer. From his earliest days of traveling the world in a military family to earning Eagle Scout, becoming a teacher, and finally putting down deep roots in Florida with an engaging and interesting career of the future, he was always exploring. He loved exciting opportunities to be outdoors, in faraway places, experiencing new people and new cultures and food. He loved the water and land equally, whether it was swimming underneath, boating, driving or camping. He loved taking risks and experiencing challenges. He was quick to help people who wanted to know about things he cared about and shared so many new experiences with his family and friends. He laughed all the time. He also laughed in bad times and troubled times and always knew how to work a room. Every event and place that he would have experienced in the rest of his life cut short is less exciting and less colorful without him. Steel sharpens steel and we’ll all be more dull without him in our lives.

Clyde is survived by his wife, Laura L Meadows and their son, Clyde W Meadows III (both of Tampa); his father Clyde, Sr. (Augusta, Ga.), his brother, John J. Meadows and wife Becky and their children, Charlie and William (The Woodlands, Texas). He was also survived by his sister-in-law, Annie Landers and her husband Darrell (Tignall, Georgia), their daughter Lara Ann Jackson and her husband Ransom and their children Levi and Liam (Athens, Georgia); his sister-in-law Mary Powell and her husband Chip (Axton, Virgina), and their children Luke Powell and his children Allye and Riley (Charlotte, North Carolina) and Alex Powell and his wife Allison Powell (Ray City, Georgia), Erin Finch (Athens, Georgia), Madeline and Amber Wilbanks (Athens, Georgia); his brother-in-law, Sam Donaldson and his wife Nancy (Augusta, Georgia) and their children, Joshua Donaldson and wife Michelle (Tampa, Florida) and their children Alexis and Aiden, Daniel Donaldson and his children Kaylie, David, and Kori (Tampa, Florida), Sasha Hawk and her husband Ben and their son C.J. (Augusta, Georgia), and Samuel Donaldson Jr. and his wife Rasha, (New York, New York).
