Dr. Gerald W. Hearin: A Life Dedicated to Healing

Dr. Gerald W. Hearin, beloved chiropractor and pillar of the Tampa Bay community, passed away peacefully on January 12th, 2024, at the age of 84. Born in Torrance, California, on February 23rd,1939, His family relocated to Tampa when he was just one year old. The Tampa Bay area became his lifelong home, a place where he built a distinguished career and nurtured deep connections.

Jerry or "Doc", as he was fondly known, excelled in athletics from a young age. He was a standout football player at Plant High School, leading his team to numerous victories. His talent and love for the game took him to the University of Georgia, where he continued to shine on the gridiron. Even after his University days, football remained a central part of his life, as an avid supporter of his Georgia Bulldogs.

Following his collegiate career, Jerry served his country with distinction in the United States Coast Guard. This experience instilled in him a deep sense of honor and commitment to service, values that would later shape his professional path.

Driven by a desire to help others, Jerry embarked on a new chapter in his life, pursuing a career in chiropractic medicine. He graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic, honing his skills and knowledge to become a skilled and compassionate practitioner. He opened his own practice in Tampa, serving countless patients with dedication and care. His gentle demeanor, combined with his expertise, earned him the trust and respect of his community.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Hearin was a man of many passions. He cherished spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid sports fan and found joy in being an active member of his church. His infectious laughter and positive spirit brightened the lives of everyone he encountered.

Dr. Hearin leaves behind a legacy of healing, kindness, and community spirit. He is survived by his son Gerald W. Hearin II (Laura); daughter Lynne Marcellus; Grandsons Jacob Hearin (Lauren), Jordan Hearin (Victoria); Granddaughter Danielle Marcellus (Daniel); Great Grand-children Jesse, Lucas, Domminic, Kennedy and Scarlette; Sisters Connie Anderson and Nita Hearin. He was recently preceded in death by his Granddaughter Lauren Hearin. His warmth, generosity, and unwavering commitment to well-being will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Memorial Service will be held on February 10, 2024, at 12pm, at Wesley Memorial United Methodist, 6100 Memorial Hwy, Tampa, FL 33615.
