Obituary of Luz Maria Perez Santiago

Luz Maria Perez Santiago , 99 Years old, of Clearwater, FL passed away peacefully on December 5th, 2023 at HCA Florida Trinity Hospital, Trinity, FL. She resided for 3 years at Trinity Regional Rehab where she was very much loved and well taken care of. She was born in Hormigueros, Puerto Rico. She was preceded in death by her love, Ismael Rodriguez, her parents, Isidrio Perez and Juana Santiago; her brothers, Monserrate Perez Santiago, Guillermo Soto, an Infant Sister, her nephew Luisito Perez, her Infant daughter and her granddaughter, Lillian Lopez . Luz Maria is survived by her Son, Edwin Rivera (Leslie) of Arroyo, Puerto Rico and her daughter, Julia Esselburne of Largo, Florida. Luz leaves a legacy of 6 grandsons and their spouses; Edwin Rivera (Jennifer); Raymond Rivera (Janet); Kenneth Rivera(Tina); Jose Suarez(Renee), Raymond Suarez (Melissa) and Janier Rivera (Ashleigh), and a granddaughter, Nelida Lopez Perez (Eddgart). She had 17 great grandchildren and 18 great great grandchildren. She had nephews and nieces that loved her like a second mom and many of their children called her Mama Luz as to them she was their grandma too! Luz Maria was a very independent person and lived on her own until the age of 92 in Bayamon, PR. She lived her earlier years in Brooklyn, NY and retired from working in New York Factories making men’s suits. She loved to sew, cook, help people and read her bible. She spoke English, Spanish and Italian. Her faith in Our Lord Jesus Christ was clear in her mind and heart until her last breath.
