Obituary of Mattie L McCraney

 

 

Mattie L. McCraney of Largo, Florida and previously of Moline, Illinois passed away, joining her husband Jack in heaven on November 16^th, 2023, at Freedom Square nursing home in Seminole, Florida.

 

Mattie was born on April 20^th, 1933, in St. Clair, Michigan to Jut and Fern Munger. 

 

Mattie graduated from Naperville high school and attended Michigan State University.

 

Mattie met her future husband, Jack after his service as a Navy pilot during the Korean war and they were married in New York on January 24^th, 1957.

 

Jack and Mattie were blessed with four children, Kathie Holloway of Louisville, KY.  John J. McCraney of Pittsburgh, KS.  William and Lisa McCraney of Prospect, KY. and Thomas S. McCraney of Charlotte NC.

Mattie was further blessed with 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

 

Mattie enjoyed golf, bridge, crossword puzzles and reading during her retirement years in Largo, Florida.

 

The family expresses great appreciation to the staff at Freedom Square where she and Jack spent their final months together and were fortunate to have spent many heartfelt visits from family and friends before passing.

 

Memorial services for Mattie will be held at Bay Pines cemetery where she will be placed with her husband of 66 years and in Port Huron, Michigan with family and friends.
