Obituary of Tracy Jay Swope

Tracy Jay Swope, age 65, of Clearwater,FL,  passed away in the presence of his two loving daughters and closest family on October 14th, 2023. He was born and raised in Trenton, Michigan, in a large, loving family. As a young adult, Tracy moved to Cameron, Missouri, where he graduated from Cameron High School in the class of '76. While living in Cameron, Tracy helped his family on their farm.

Most of Tracy's adult life was spent in Florida where he was involved with construction and the start of his beautiful family.

In the early 80s, Tracy met his future wife and the mother of his children, Patty (Britt) Swope. Together they started a family, having two daughters who were raised in Largo.

His career and passion was construction. Tracy was amazingly talented in everything he built, from his daughter's favorite playhouse to constructing breath taking custom homes all over Florida. He was so proud of his work.

He also enjoyed water skiing, boating, camping, playing softball, and coaching his daughter's soccer and softball teams. As long as family was involved, Tracy was there!

Tracy was diagnosed with Stage 4 squamous cell cancer in 2012. This was a difficult battle. After the birth of his only granddaughter, Evalee, in March of 2017, Tracy began fighting his toughest battle to stay alive for his granddaughter. When Tracy realized the severity of his illness, he pulled all of his strength together to fulfill his promise to attend Evalee's kindergarten graduation, and he kept his promise.

Tracy was preceded in death by his parents, Russel and Doris (Grote) Swope of Clearwater, and his nephew Daniel Swope of Casper, Wyoming.

He is survived by daughters Amanda Swope of Port Richey and Christina Swope of Clearwater; his favorite granddaughter Evalee; his former wife of 27 years and forever best friend Patty Swope of Clearwater; siblings Rick (Linda) Swope of Citrus County, Ted (Nancy) Swope of Citrus County, Randy Swope of Michigan; Kristal Crump of Georgia; and Scott (Margie) Swope of Palm Harbor.

A Celebration of Tracy's Life will be held at E. James Reese Funeral Home, 6767 Seminole Blvd, Seminole FL 33772 on Wednesday, November 8th, 2023.
