Obituary of Harold Brannen

Harold "Farris" Brannen, age 72, of Dunedin, passed away surrounded by his loving family on September 15th, 2023. He was born at Morton Plant Hospital and raised in Dunedin, FL. Farris experienced health issues as a child, but he was a shining light in the hospital to other children his age, and he was remembered by his nurses for many years. Farris and Marion met in the 3rd grade and began a lifelong friendship, culminating in marriage at the age of 18 years. They continued their lives together in Dunedin and started a family together. Farris and Marion both loved to fish, and they assisted in the care of all of their grandchildren. They remained very active in their upbringing until they were old enough to stay home on their own.

Farris was an avid bracket racer and both of his sons raced cars with him. Many of their longterm friendships were made during these fun times.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Adair and Louise (Lowery) Brannen of Dunedin.

Farris is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marion (Lewis) Brannen of Dunedin; Stephen (Kimberly) Brannen of Dunedin and John (Vicki) Brannen of Dunedin; grandchildren Jamie, Julia, Colton, Bailey, and Jonathon all of Dunedin; sisters Pat (Eddie) Connell of Tennessee and Janice (Gary) Askey of Lakeland; nephews Christopher and Jay Brian and niece Kaitlyn; and many other family and friends who will miss him dearly.

Farris was an avid fisherman who owned and operated Brannen Floors for over 40 years. Farris will be remembered for his dedication to his family, in particular his grandchildren, who all meant so much to him.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Farris' name to Suncoast Hospice.
