Obituary of Anita L Rundquist

Anita Rundquist passed away peacefully in her sleep in Clearwater Florida after a long illness.  A native of Michigan, Anita was born and raised in North Muskegon with her two siblings and a nearby cadre of extended family.  She was married to Donald Hammond from 1953 to 1966.  In 1967 she married Donald Rundquist and their combined family of three boys and two girls grew into nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Anita loved being outdoors, designing and nurturing many gorgeous, extraordinary gardens in Michigan and then Florida where she and Don would become snowbirds and eventually full-time residents in 2008.  Anita and friends transformed the landscaping at their Harbor Lights community in Venice, Florida from bland to beautiful.  Anita loved music and was blessed with a beautiful natural singing voice which she shared often, entertaining friends and family alike.

Anita was preceded in death by her parents Ronald and Nathalie Whitsell, her husband of 44 years, Donald Rundquist, sister and brother-in-law Janet and Jack Kirkpatrick, son Steven Hammond and daughter Carla Hammond Gilmore.

She is survived and missed by her brother and sister-in-law Ronald and Linda Whitsell, daughter Renée (Sean) McCoy, step-sons Michael (Diane) Rundquist and Mark (Lisa) Rundquist, daughter-in-law Beth Hammond as well as many grandchildren, nieces, nephews and long-time companion, John Meisch.

A memorial gathering to take place in Muskegon will be announced at a later date.
