Obituary of Mary Magdalene Carswell

Mary M. Carswell, 73 of St. Petersburg FL, departed this earthly life on Sunday, July 30^th, 2023, at St. Petersburg General Hospital after a short battle with lung cancer. She was born in Milan, GA. As a child she grew up in the Pinellas County school system. For many years she worked as a housekeeper for Tradewinds (Sarata) Resort and Westminster Suncoast until she retired in 2012. Her hobbies included sewing, completing crossword puzzles and playing candy crush on her phone/tablet. Her favorite color was blue and she enjoyed painting her fingernails. She was a member of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir for many years. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Sarlie Sr. and Mattie B. McKinnon of Georgia, her husband Lorenzo "Sam" Carswell, brothers Hardy, Walter Sr., Jimmy Lee, Sarlie Jr. and Charlie McKinnon and sisters Margaret McKinnon and Mable Haugabrook.

She is survived by her daughter Sharvone McKinnon; sons Christopher Wilson and Robert "Terry" Tucker Jr; her aunt Madie McKinnon, sisters Maybell Booze, Susie Dudley, and Rosa Lee McKinnon; in-laws, Barbara Jean Carswell, Patricia Davis (Kimble) and Woodrow Carswell. Mary is also survived by her grandchildren, Shawanda, Ashley, Roman (Ariel), Giovanna, Lexus, Chris II, Renesha, Laterrica, Chasity, Chanel, Brittany, Shane, Jerome, Alfonso, Tre, Quinton, Serena and Jaylon and over thirty great-grandchildren. 

She will be missed by all her nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends whom all will forever cherish her memories. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date.
