Obituary of Ronald M Beal

Ronald Beal, 82, passed away on February 17 surrounded by family at Suncoast Hospice in Clearwater Florida.  Ron was born 10/19/1940 to Arthur and Eleanor Beal in Dayton,Ohio.

 

He graduated from Ohio State University with an OD degree in Optometry in 1966 and began practicing with his father-in-law, Paul Magnuson in Lancaster Ohio where he remained for 40 years.

 

Ron is survived by his wife of sixty years,Judith Beal, and his two adult children Deron(Jennifer Columbus)Beal of Tucson Arizona, Kimberly Beal (Geoff Clark, deceased 2019)of St Petersburg and her two children, Trinity and Flora.

 

Ron was active in his community through several positions of leadership.  He was an elder at First Presbyterian Church.  He was president of the Lancaster  Chamber of Commerce,  the Rotary Club, and the Ohio Optometric Association.  He served on the board of the Fairfield Federal Savings and Loan and on the Fairfield Medical Center Advisory Board. He also volunteered in Big Brothers and Habitat for Humanity. He was a member of Triangle fraternity and Epsilon Psi Epsilon, optometry fraternity.   

He was a fifty-three year member of Lancaster Country Club and a 17 year member of Cove Cay Golf where he and Judy wintered for half the year.  They both loved playing golf and making good friendships from playing golf.

He and Judy travelled internationally extensively from 1985 until 2017 with many trips to Europe, South America, Australia, and New Zealand.  

 

Ron is survived by a sister Bonnie Stephens of Tucson, and a brother Tom(Margie)Beal of Claremont California, sister-in-law, MaryKay Geiger of Westerville, Ohio, several nieces and nephews.

 

Celebration of Life is planned in Clearwater in February and in Lancaster in July.   

 

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Florida Gulf Coast Chapter;14010 Roosevelt Blvd Ste:709; Clearwater, FL 33762. Or the Fairfield County Foundation, Lancaster, Ohio.  

Caring cremation has taken place at Beacon Direct Cremation of Largo Fl.
