Obituary of Jessica Estella Christensen

Jessica loved traveling. She didn’t get to travel a lot until later in life. She was born in Baltimore, Maryland to William and Amelia Hubbard. Her parents were traditional and when she graduated from high school, she was told to pick her career, a teacher or a nurse. She chose being a nurse and went to nursing school. While attending school, she met and married Thomas Edward Christensen. Jessica and her husband had three children. They spent many weekends sailing on the Chesapeake Bay and occasional trips to Ocean City. She and her family moved to Belleair Bluffs, Florida in 1978 and enjoyed many weekends at the beach. In 1980, Jessica took a chance and selected a job in Saudi Arabia. The overseas job was scary and exciting. The job allowed her to provide for her family, while simultaneously getting to start her second act, a second chance at creating a life, she would find exciting. While working overseas, she had many opportunities to explore other countries and other cultures. Even after returning to Florida, she continued to travel around the world. She retired from her nursing career in 2014 after 50 years as an RN. Throughout her life and adventures, she inspired her children to travel and keep working, and building a life they loved no matter their age even if it was scary. She was a person who chose to do stuff that scared her and do it anyways. She passed peacefully at Suncoast Hospice in Palm Harbor. She is survived by her three children, William, Steven and Paula and four grandchildren, Griffin, Veronica, James, and Sarah.
