Obituary of Marvin David Mercado

“If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away” These words by Henry David Thoreau hung on the wall of Marvin David Mercado’s home when he died on June 7, 2021. The words rang true to how he lived his life. He is remembered by others for his humor, positive and carefree spirit. He was non-judgmental and was loved by many. His youngest daughter, Ruby, expressed, “He was so smart, witty, and super funny!! He could always make me laugh no matter the kind of day I was having. He came back into my life when no one else understood. I needed him the most. I wish I had more time with him but will forever cherish the memories I have. His humor will be fiercely missed. He may have taken the broken road and had many hiccups along the way, but he always had a kind, beautiful heart and could bring a smile to the dullest of life.” Marvin’s other children and family will miss his goofy humor and playful side. He had the ability to make everyone laugh. His friends say he was one of a kind and loved by many. One of his friends said, “He was a beautiful soul, I always felt at peace in his presence.” Marvin is survived by his children: Naomi Parnell, Holly Scott, Samuel Mercado, and Ruby Mercado. Grandchildren: Sierra Madden, Mariah Parnell, Ryker Parnell, Anthony Griglione, Nick Griglione, Joshua Hieber, Preston Mercado, Mia Diaz, and Logan Mercado. Great grandchildren: Jaidynn Copeland, Ka’Leah Copeland and Elias Miller. His siblings: Andrea Bernard, Jewel Weiss, Tina Taylor, Sandy Mercado, Sheri Blake, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his son, Joshua Mercado; mother, Ruby Ferro; father, Simeon Mercado; step-father, Roland Ferro; brother, Philip Arafiles; and sister Rebecca Slominski.
