Obituary of Arthur George Stasko

STASKO, Arthur George died March 19, 2017, in Pinellas Park, FL, from natural causes. Mr. Stasko served in the U.S. Army during WWII, as a post musical director, and assistant to the Chaplin, in Fort Stewart, GA. He was a former native and resident of Syracuse, NY, and DeRuyter Lake, NY. While attending Syracuse University he studied organ and piano with the late Dr. J.J. McGrath. Mr. Stasko was minister of music at the Catholic Churches of Transfiguration, St. Vincent DePaul’s; and finally at Blessed Sacrament, where he also taught piano for 31 years. He was also appointed Sub-Dean of the Syracuse Chapter of the American Guild of Organist. As president of DeRuyter Lake Association, Arthur was instrumental in settling land claims with the State of NewYork. Mr. Stasko is survived by three children, Barbara Ghausi, Thomas and Robert Stasko; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Suncoast Hospice, 5771 Roosevelt Blvd., Clearwater, FL 33760.
