Obituary of Sandra Burgess

Sandra “Sandi” Joyce Burgess, 77, passed away on Friday, August 21, 2020, in the care of hospice and surrounded by family in her home. She was born October 16, 1942 to Dorothy Elizabeth Roberts and Ellis Herbert Roberts in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Sandi graduated from Rockwood Joint High School in 1960. After High School, Sandi entered into the Navy, serving as a training device man. Sandi is survived by her sisters Diann Smith and Linda Hall, her nieces Delinda Hayden and Christi Rily, her grandchildren Jessika Burgess and Kameron Hale, her great-grandson Eli Cook, as well as many friends that she called her chosen family and sisters of the heart. She was predeceased by her father Ellis Roberts, mother Dorothy Jackson, brother Clifford Roberts, sister Debbie, & her daughter Katherine Burgess. Sandi worked as a Loan Processor and Underwriter, retiring from Iberiabank Mortgage at the age of 75. She loved animals of all kinds, especially big cats like white tigers and Florida panthers. She enjoyed traveling, reading books, listening to music, and next to her family and friends, she lived to dance. She competed in ballroom dancing for many years and loved dancing with her friends at Suncoast Ballroom in Largo. Though she worked extremely hard throughout her life, she always made time to have fun and enjoy the little things. She lived on her own terms with a great spirit of passion, love, strength, and determination. Memorial contributions can be made in Sandi’s name to Suncoast Hospice.
