Obituary of Maureen Gayle Wallace

WALLACE, Maureen Gayle 71, of Dunedin, FL, passed away Friday, December 9, 2016, joining her late husband, Curtis Alan Perry. She was born October 8, 1945 in Brockton,MA to the late Joseph and Nellie Butler. She grew up in Brockton and resided in several towns in the Brockton area, before moving to Beaufort, NC in 1985. After the passing of her late husband, Curt, she relocated with her family to Dunedin in 2002.Maureen enjoyed success in many fields of employment,including several positions in healthcare, office management in various industries, and accounting. She was the General Manager of Jungleland, a theme park in Atlantic Beach, NC for approximately 15 years. Upon relocating to Florida, she joined BayCare Health System. She worked at the BayCare Home Health offices for a couple of years before transferring to BayCare Mobile Pool, where she worked until she became ill in June of 2015.She was a member of the Rotary Club, the Chamber of Commerce,and the American Business Women’s Association. She received the Paul Harris Fellow Recognition from her Rotary Club, and sat on the Board of Directors for the Chamber of Commerce.During her tenure at Jungleland, Maureen made many contributions to the community. She was especially proud of her work with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and the Christian Outreach Concerts that she organized and held in the park’s theater.She touched many young lives through these ministries.She was a member of Countryside Christian Center, where she attended church with her family. Over the years she served in various ministries, including the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, the food pantry, and outreach concerts. She loved God with all of her heart, and that love freely flowed out to everyone she encountered.Maureen is survived by three siblings, her older brother, Michael Butler, her younger brother, Brian Butler, and her sister,Denise Brooks; two daughters, Deneen Settino and Nicole Perry;her granddaughter, Amy Westberg; her great-granddaughter,Carolina Westberg; her stepchildren, Jack Wallace, Mary Nunes, and Jennifer Nickiloulias and their six children from Raynham, MA, and Vickie Mercer, Teresa Harper, Laura Lynch,Christina Collins, and Curtis Perry Jr. and their five children and six grandchildren from Beaufort, NC; and many nieces and nephews and their children.Maureen was a remarkable woman who held her family together through triumph and tragedy. She was the foundation of her family, the glue that kept us all bound to herself, and to one another. It is that same glue that will mend our broken hearts and enable us to carry on her legacy.
