Obituary of Gregory Charles Hackley

HACKLEY, Gregory Charles returned to his heavenly home February 22, 2017 after a valiant battle with both physical illness and depression. He was born September 27, 1965 in Santa Clara, CA. He spent the majority of his lifetime in Chalfont, PA, St. Petersburg, FL, and Murphy, NC. His devotion to his family, his compassion for the poor, and his firm belief in God supported him in his long struggle. He is finally at peace in the arms of the Lord.Greg was receded in death by his father, Lloyd W. Hackley.Greg was the beloved son of Mary J. Hackley (now residing in shua, NH). He is also survived by his three brothers and their spouses, Stephen L. Hackley and his wife, Donna (Czerniakowski), Christopher J. Hackley and his wife, Annmarie (Whalen), and Neil T. Hackley and his wife, Kelly (Lange). “Uncle Greg” was loved by his nieces and nephew, Hannah, Cara, Madison, Caroline, Katie, Christopher, Kinsey, and Josie.Greg graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in Political Science in 1989. Shortly after graduation, Greg went to work for “Pride Enterprises” in St. Petersburg, FL. He believed in Pride’s mission, and spent ten years with them. He then became a small business owner in North Carolina where he developed a passion for helping and supporting other, local merchants. Greg enjoyed discussing politics and contributing to those less fortunate. He was immersed in the Christian Community and was tireless in his support for multiple homeless shelters. Greg was very kind hearted and had a quick wit about him. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him.Greg’s final resting place will be at St. Williams Catholic Church in Murphy, NC. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to “ARC Salvation Army” 5885 66th St. North St.Petersburg, FL 33709.
