James Curry

Obituary of James Robert Curry

It is with deepest sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved James (Jim) Curry. On April 24, 2022, he succumbed to Frontotemporal Dementia/Primary Progressive Aphasia. He was 66 years of age.

Jim was born to James and Virginia in Philadelphia in 1955. He graduated from Penncrest High School in 1973 and moved to St. Pete Beach in 1976 where he met the love of his life. They were married in 1977.  He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly, their children Jamie (Allen) and Michael (Jennifer) and 5 grandchildren: Jacob, Aidyn, Ethan, Maddox and Sophie. He is also survived by his parents and 4 siblings: Bobby, Billy, Cindi and Mark and their families and sister-in-law Lisa and her family.

One of Jim’s greatest joys were the times spent surrounded by his family and grandchildren.   He will be remembered for his contagious smile, his big heart and his warm  bear hugs. He was a devoted, loving and kind man who would always find time to help anyone in need. Family and friends feel the immense loss of Jim as he passed at such a young age.

Jim was a jack-of-all trades, from construction to mechanics, from computer programming to business endeavors. He took immense pride in building the addition to his family home with  his own two hands. When his son, Michael, opened an air conditioning business, Jim offered his construction knowledge and entrepreneurship skills to help grow and expand the business. His love of mechanics often found him working on his Dodge Ram or restoring his antique car.

In the days preceding his death, he was overheard practicing his vocal range even though he was unable to articulate words. We truly believe he will be singing in Heaven with the angels.

He continues to give in death as he gave in life through his generous donation to the University of Florida’s Brain Tissue Bank for Translational Neurodegenerative Disease. His legacy to help others will continue in an effort to help find a cure for FTD/PPA. Donations and Contributions can be mailed to:
