Nancy Carol (Lee) Bevis, age 71, of Largo, Florida, passed away surrounded by loving family on May 28th, 2023 at Largo Medical Center. Nancy was born in Mishawaka, Indiana, where she and her husband Duane split their time, living four months each year in Indiana, with the remainder of the year in Florida.
Nancy met her future husband, Duane D. Bevis, when they were fifteen years old and in high school. They met again later in life and married in 1991. Nancy and Duane began their life together in Indiana, but started coming to Florida becoming residents in 2017. Nancy was a member of The Church of Christ of Southbend and the VFW 360 in Mishawaka, as well as the American Legion 119 and Moose Lodge 2205, both of which were in Florida.
Nancy was the life of the party, always laughing, and the bright star of any room she entered. She has several hundred friends who will dearly miss her, including her lifelong best friend, Patricia McClanahan of Mishawaka, and her beloved Dachschund Brandy, who preceded her in death. In her travels, Nancy was the best backseat driver anyone could ever ask for.
Nancy was preceded in death by by her parents, Robert and Betty Lee of Mishawaka, her three brothers Bobby, Leslie, and Danny, her grandparents, and her mother-in-law Ruth Bevis.
She is survived by her soulmate, Duane D. Bevis of Largo; her sister Vicki Nolen of Mishawaka, her nephew Shawn Nolen of Washington D.C., and her grandnephew Kai and grandniece Ainsley. Also surviving are Duane's sisters Cindy (Lee) Winningham, Sherry (Dexter) Huntley, and Cathy (Carl) Sailor and Duane's brother John (Sally) Bevis, all of Indiana; and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
The family is eternally grateful to Nancy's nurse and doctor at Largo Medical Hospital, Nurse Theresa, and Dr. Saliba.
John 11:25-26 "Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die."
To honor Nancy's wishes, the family will not be holding any services. In lieu of flowers, they suggests donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Nancy's name.
