Obituary of Betty Jane Skumautz

Betty Jane (Skoog) Skumautz passed from death to life on October 25th, 2020 at the age of 89. She will be joining her parents, Ben & Esther Skoog, her sister Ruth Luchterhand, her son Vern (Butch) Skumautz and grandson Adam M. Skumautz. Betty is survived by her children, Karen (Skumautz) Wilcox, her husband Charles and their children Erin and Trevor. Michael Skumautz his wife Tammy and their children, Ashley and Austin. Ben Skumautz and his wife Chris and his children, Tiffany, Elisha and Kayla. Kathy Skumautz (wife of Vern Skumautz) and their children, Krystal, Melanie and Jeremy. As well as 14 great-grandchildren. Betty was born in Mayville, WI and graduated from Greenwood Highschool in 1948. She was married in 1955. During the time in her life that she was married, she traveled to different parts of the world from Spain to the Philippines as an Air Force wife. They came to settle in Holiday, FL in the 1970’s where she remained until her passing. She retired in 1998 from Honeywell. After her retirement she spent her time in her church, with her family and wonderful trips with her girlfriends. Betty loved to travel, mostly by car. She would drive to visit family in Wisconsin hitting all the Dairy Queens and Cracker Barrels along the way. She loved the holidays and had more decorations than most. She was a picture taker and probably went through a roll of film at each dinner, birthday, or special occasion. It never failed that she would have to change the roll of film (or batteries) right before something important. That always made us laugh. Her beautiful smile was contagious, and her feisty spirit will be missed by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers, you may honor her memory by sending a donation to the church family she loved at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, 812 E. Tarpon Ave, Tarpon Springs, Florida 34689.
