Obituary of Sharon Morten

Sharon Jo “Mort” Morten passed from this life on May 30, 2020. Born in Alton, IL, on May 17, 1945, to Edith and Ervin Morten, she was the eighth of nine children. She is survived by brother, John Morten, ND; sisters, Delores Morten, MN, and Linda Rote (Jeff), NC; brother-in-law, Robert Felling, AZ; sister-in-law, Audrey Morten, ID; and many nieces and nephews. After graduating from the University of South Florida, she began her teaching career at Largo High School. During her career in teaching, she also served as a counselor and as a Child Advocacy Coordinator with the Guardian ad Litem program. Of all the awards she received during her career, the honor she treasured most was the love and respect of her students, clients and colleagues, all of whom she considered her family. She wrote, “Love describes my philosophy. The most beautiful experience for us is the acceptance that we extend to each other.” Her greatest hope was that her friends and family would carry this message of unconditional love and acceptance throughout their lives. Due to the current pandemic, a gathering to celebrate her life will not be held at this time
