I just today learned of your passing. You were my childhood friend from Pinellas Park Middle school and we just chatted 2 days before your passing. I’m heartbroken. Godspeed Matt, you’re safe and at peace in our heavenly Father’s arms now. ♥️

My thoughts and prayers are with his family. I went to school with Matt since kindergarten. He was always so kind and had a heart of gold. Many years flew by after school and I did not see Matt again until about 3 years ago. I passed him on a sidewalk at a festival and we both laughed and said hi. He was shocked that I even remembered his name. How could I not. Even though we never hung out, his face was always there since age 5. He spoke of his family with so much love and adoration. I wish nothing but peace for his family at this time.

Wow.. saying a good bye is never a easy thing to do. But it’s not GoodBye.. its until we meet again. Matt was my distant cousin. He had the most vibrant smile. I just wanted to send my sincere condolences to the family , friends and loved ones that are experiencing this loss. Just know that God is our comforter and lean unto him and he will give you comfort. (RIP) Rest in peace Matt.. love you say hello to my Granny for me..

Dad I just want to say that I miss you very much. There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t think about you. It is still unreal to me that your gone. As I read all the comments and thing people have to say about you, it shows that you were a very loving, caring, person and touched so many people’s hearts. I just remember how funny you were. I remember when I was young and you would always embarrass me by jumping out the car in the middle of traffic dancing or in the grocery store dancing and just being a goof-ball as we would always say. My favorite memory of you was when I was a young boy and you, uncle Ted, and uncle John all raced your own race cars at what was “Sunshine Speedway” and now called “Showtime Speedway”. And when on a caution lap you used to go around every time and do your hand gesture(your thumb and pinky out and all other fingered down)to our saying” Hang Loose”. I’m glad you got to be there for the first years of Jordan’s baseball games just like you were always there for mine. Jordan, Lilliana, Nikki, and I sure do miss you bud and I just wanna say hang loose pops one more time fly high n give grandma n aunt babe violet Jen and all the rest of the beautiful angels we know up there a hug n kiss from us, and can’t wait til the day when I can come up n party with y’all again cuz grandma always had the big parties. I love ya pops and may your soul Rest In Peace.

Words can’t describe the sadness and unbelief when I got the news of his passing. My son Jason Gibson and Matt were the very best childhood friends even to their little get together last year when Jason came to visit me here in St Pete he wanted to make sure he would spend time with him his mom and dad. Jason love him like a brother, I have so many memories of them playing softball and clowning around, I’m sure lots and lots of pictures of them. Edith to you and your family my deepest condolences and to Matt’s family also my deepest sympathy especially to his kids and grandkids ❤️ ZoniaGibson

I did not know this young Man but I do know hos Family. I grew up with Buddy and Neva just doors away. Richard and Gloria, Mr. & Mrs. Powell as we called them, were very friendly and accommodating to the kids in the neighborhood. We all liked them very much and had great respect for them. As kids we would always have our little differences but later they had been forgotten or forgiven and life went on. It was a great time back then and I do miss it. My point is, if this young man comes from stock like the Powell’s, you can tell by the looks He was a Wonderful Man. From the past. Walter ( Bud ) Boylan My sincere Condolences’ for your loss.

Edith you were very blessed to have Matt ask you to be his wife. Matt was an inspiration to me that a life could be changed by relying on our Lord and working hard to make a difference. Matt never met a stranger he was very outgoing and always had a smile on his face. I will always cherish the memories of the times we spent together especially feeding the homeless. I pray for you to have strength and guidance in Jesus Christ our Savior

I miss you so much. Our space is quiet w/o you. I am holding on to our good memories and fun times. I am happy that you always made memories by taking pictures and videos. I have been glued to those and I am laughing again even though is w/o you. Sebastian is missing you so much!. He is so worry about not having a barber or a coach for baseball. He told me we will see you again and that we have to go to church. He is the new man of the house. I hope you’re at peace. I will love you forever.
