Ruby Edith McCombs Alexander, 88, of Clearwater, Florida passed away in the early morning hours of January 15, 2022. Originally of Litchfield Kentucky, she moved to Pleasant Plains, Illinois as a teenager, and spent her final years in the sunshine of Clearwater. Ruby married the love of her life, Glen Alexander on October 13, 1951 (married for almost 50 years), and is survived by her three children, Ron Alexander (significant other Jill La Lande) of Clearwater, Florida, Sheila (Jim) Stambaugh of Springfield, Illinois, Penny (Flint) Kemper of Dallas, Texas. Five grandchildren, Brook-Lyn (Nick) Hibbs of Austin, Texas, Shaun (Emily) Plummer of League City, Texas, Shane (fiancé Caitlyn) Plummer of Springfield, Illinois, Brian Alexander of Goyang South Korea, and Madeline Kemper (Nathaniel Nick) of Denton, Texas. Six great-grandchildren, Michael Magee of Troy, Illinois, Summer Ratliff of Ashland, Illinois, Hayden Magee of Austin, Texas, Rayne Ratliff of Ashland, Illinois, Jerimiah Plummer of Loami, Illinois, and Lydia Plummer of League City, Texas. She also leaves behind a brother, Doyle Thomas McCombs (Melissa) of New Berlin, Illinois, along with many nieces and nephews.
Ruby is predeceased by her husband Glen Alexander (July 31, 2000), her parents, Doyle and Mary Ann McCombs, brothers Fred McCombs and Wilbur McCombs, sisters June Logsdon, Helen Chamness, Joann Courtney, and Betty DeGroot Vick.
Ruby loved her family! She loved bowling, camping, shopping with her girls, riding with Ron in his golf cart, and loved the beach!!!
Graveside services for the family, Celebration of Life at Clayville, Pleasant Plains, Illinois, April 16, 2022 at 2PM.
The family would like to thank the incredible staff at Palm Garden in Clearwater, along with the Hospice professionals that gave mom comfort in her final days.
